Audience Feedback

Audience Feedback

We got audience feedback through different ways such as holding focus groups, asking people what they thought of the music video by asking them and by letting them do surveys and through social media where they could view the tasks.

Here is our focus group in our group where we discussed ideas for songs and for the music video.

Here is the response where we asked someone what they thought of the video and the ancillary tasks here was their response.

Here is also the survey that we held for the music video, digipak and magazine advert.

And Finally here is the response on Facebook that I used for audience Feedback.

Constructing the Magazine Advert

Constructing the Magazine Advert

The third part of our course involved making a magazine advert to go with the digipak and the music video. When making this I wanted to continue the themes that were present throughout the video and in the digipak. To do this I wanted to try and keep the black and white theme on the digipak and carry it further into the magazine advert, so I thought of the layout and came up with the idea of making the magazine in regards to a chess board like layout.

The white and black blocks worked well together but I also realised that I needed to introduce the images from the music video and put them onto the magazine advert, I had to use the same filter on the images as I used in the digipak after doing this I would have to shrink them down so they could fit into the blocked spaces.

I realised I would also have to find a font to use on the magazine advert so I chose to use the same one as what I used on the digipak. I re used the font CM Dragon Tattoo again as the title and for any text that was on the digipak.

Constructing the Digipak

Constructing the Digipak

Here are the six panels of my digipak, I wanted to make these with correspondence with my music video so I chose to use the idea of having four screens in my digipak work whilst sticking to the colours black and white in the images. In order to make the images become edited I first introduced the images with the filter, Stamp which made the image become a somewhat cutout of the original image but with the colours becoming black and white.

Once the images had gone through the filter, I realised that I wanted to make the images seem like they have something to do  with the four screens, so I then selected half of each images and inverted the colours of them, making seem like they have the idea of four screens, two black and two white. I also had to get a variety of different fonts to look like signatures to fill out any unwanted space on the images.

I also did the idea of the four screens on the front and back colours by inverting selections of the images on the covers.

Rough Cut of Music Video

Rough Cut of Music Video

Here is how far i have gotten into making the music video, most of the shots have been recorded but more are needed. We have also taken into account some criticisms that we have received and will put them in the actual video.

Some criticisms that we received were that we need to change the order of the shots on the music video as it makes the video seem repetitive if its in the same order.

Editing the Music Video

Editing the Music Video

Whilst editing my music video, I chose to edit it in a way in which I had to have four consecutive screens running at once, which involved lots of editing. This meant instead of having the one timeline I had to edit on four at the same time. The only way that I thought that it would work would to be to edit in such a way that the screens would have to change on every beat of the song.

Here is the timeline of the video, as mentioned above, there is the four different timelines being edited at once, to edit on the beat I had to insert markers which would help me to get the editing on the beat. I soon realised that the editing would take a long time due to the fact that I had to keep going back and checking the four screens were constantly running.

In order to make the four screens play at the same time, I had to move around the settings of the screens for example, normally the screens would be in the centre of the screen so what I had to do was as evenly as I could, split the screens up into four different screens that could be played at the same time.

An example of this can be seen here in which you can see that I moved around the Position and the Scale of the video.

After moving all the settings on each of the screens then I was able to come up with an outcome like this throughout the whole video. As you can see here are the four screens being run together at the same time.

Filming Session

Filming Session

Today we went filming, we only filmed the drums of the music video in the band room of Robert Clack. This was only a test run. We only wanted to do this to see how some of the shots would come out in the music video.

During this time we mainly focused on the drummer's part of the music video as we assumed that this would be the hardest part of the music video since the fast pace of the song.

We found trying to keep to the beat to the song the hardest part of filming.

Album Art Exercise

Album Art Exercise

For this task I had to make an album cover using random images and text. This will help me in the future when it comes to making my actual album cover. This exercise is to show that I could manipulate an image in Photoshop in order to create an album cover.

Wikipedia page- British Commandos
Quote- "A little inaccuracy sometimes saves tons of explanation"
A little inaccuracy-Album title
Image for album:

First of all I had to open the image up into photoshop and then decide what to do with it, first of all I decided to add on the filter "Sumi-e". I chose this filter as it made the image look slightly blurred and made the contrast of the image greater, I also had to remove the writing in the corner of the image, I did this by going over it with the paint tool.

I then had to desaturate the image, because I felt that this would make the image look better than it already did for the album cover.

Now that I had done this I felt that I needed to find a suitable font to go with the image, so I decided to go onto Dafont to find a font for the image. I ended up finding the font "scorchflash" and inserted that with the text that I found earlier.

Here is the finished image with the text included.
